Raising Caterpillars at Home
As part of our recent STEM in the Rockaways Spring Break program, each participating student brought home their very own caterpillar kit!
These kits included live caterpillars, nutritious food, and a safe habitat—everything needed to successfully care for and observe these amazing creatures up close. Over the coming days, our students will witness one of nature’s most fascinating processes: metamorphosis.
Through this hands-on experience, children are learning responsibility, patience, and key scientific concepts as they care for their caterpillars and watch them transform into butterflies.
We’re also sharing this journey through our live stream, so families and community members can follow along and experience the transformation together.
